Permaculture & me
I have been interested in regenerative ways of living since my early 20s and started learning about permaculture in a structured way in 2011 when I undertook a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) with the late Patrick Whitefield at Ragmans Farm, England. In 2013 I completed a second PDC - Earth Activist Training - with Starhawk in Cazadero, California. In September 2015 I completed the Permaculture Association (Britain) Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. In the same year I completed a course run by Looby Macnamara and Peter Cow, in people focused permaculture design facilitation and I undertook training to become an assessment tutor for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. I took a break from any paid permaculture teaching and facilitation work when I was unwell with acute and then chronic Lyme disease from 2017 - 2020. I started a permaculture related art practice as part of my slow recovery from Lyme, and creativity has become the flow that grounds my work and life as I continue to navigate living with a long term illness. I completed a third PDC (specifically for creatives) with Liz Postlethwaite in 2024. I write regular articles and reviews for several publications, including Permaculture Magazine and the Permaculture Women Magazine.
